TEACHING THEATRE
-
As a Theatre Educator, every day, my primary goal is to facilitate the collaboration necessary for my students to produce theatre. To effectively accomplish this student collaboration, I believe it is essential to incorporate 21st-century learning styles and learner-centered program management plans.
In today's workforce, we are required to understand a myriad of soft skills that continuously change from technological advancements. I will instill essential habits in my students that they must learn to overcome the challenges of today.
When structuring student learning, Joan Lazarus talks about creating an environment where students are equally represented. This representation includes a restructuring of the traditional theatre hierarchy to allow for more learner-centered job titles. Eliminating any hierarchical tension within the program. As an Educator, the student's wellbeing and growth are the final product of a process. This process includes failure, hard work, and collaboration. I believe if I can facilitate this process, I will have done my job.
